KICKOFF TO SENIOR CITIZEN OUTREACH PROGRAM
The Big Muddy is gaining momentum in its outreach program in retirement communities and nursing homes in the St. Louis areas by performing for patients and residents at least once a month. In May the company will begin its first connections with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center in effort to use dance therapy for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. We are so excited to be a part of the research involved, and to bring artistry and entertainment to seniors’ lives in return for the experience and wisdom they share with us. LAURI STALLINGS, GUEST CHOREOGRAPHER
We were thrilled to bring in world-renowned choreographer and director of gloATL, Lauri Stallings, to set a premiere work on the company and help the dancers to undergo a 3-week exploration process to set the movement! She will be returning for Phase 2 of the piece in late May. Thank you to those who attended the sneak preview of her work at “Creatively UnCut: Cocktails and Choreography”!
THE BIG MUDDY DANCE COMPANY SUMMER INTENSIVE
The time has come to register for this year’s summer intensive in July 2013 at the Downtown Dance Center! We are adding 2 additional weeks to the intensive this year to accommodate the demand. We are excited to announce the return of guest artist Brandon DiCriscio, and we welcome Abdur-Rahim and Olivia Jackson (former dancers of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) to our roster of Summer Intensive instructors and choreographers! Funded in part by Arts & Education Council.
